UF Graduate School Participates in the 2016 South American EducationUSA Fair Circuit

Release Date: September 14 2016

The University of Florida, through the Graduate School and English Language Institute, participated in the 2016 South American EducationUSA Fair Circuit in September. The stops included Santa Cruz, Bolivia; Lima, Peru; Quito and Guayaquil, Ecuador; and Bogota, Colombia.

The objectives of the trip were to nurture and strengthen established collaborations with partner institutions, develop new connections with high-quality institutional partners throughout the region, and increase enrollment of students from South America in UF Master’s, Doctoral and English Language programs. There were networking events with officials from institutions of higher education, Fulbright, the U.S. Embassy, and EducationUSA in each city. In addition, there were visits to high quality institutions in some cities, with the intent of building new relationships.

It was clear during the trip that indeed the Gator Nation is everywhere. There were meetings with UF alumni, some of whom were happy to participate in the recruitment fairs by telling prospective students about their experiences at UF. Some of these alumni were faculty members in prestigious institutions, and others worked with various worldwide organizations.  Both the Graduate School and the English Language Institute were pleased with the new relationships made, the strengthening of those already established, and the quality of prospective students.
