Shenita Denson is the Program Specialist III for the Office of Graduate Minority Programs. In this role, Shenita manages fellowship application processes, coordinate and manage daily office activities, communications—internal and external, maintain student databases, travel to represent the Graduate School, plan and participate in recruitment activities, and advise students.

 Shenita earned her bachelor's degree in Communication Studies with a double-minor in African-American Studies and Dance from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She received her master's degree in Organizational Communications with a minor in Public Affairs from Bowie State University. Shenita has over ten years of experience in college access, higher education, and program management, specifically in the areas of student support. Shenita has worked in a variety of educational settings from nonprofit organizations and high schools to community colleges and private institutions, advocating for underrepresented minority students. A lifelong learner, Shenita enjoys researching particularly how the arts can impact social change. Fun fact: Hailing from Fayetteville, NC, Shenita is an avid Duke basketball fan. In her free time, she enjoys sunny days, spending time with her loved ones, brownies, and all things the performing arts.
